• Climate change: Prepare for global temperature rise of 4C, warns top scientist
The UK should take active steps to prepare for dangerous climate change of perhaps 4C

• UK's largest onshore wind farm in bid to attract tourists ScottishPower has started
work on a multi-million pound visitor centre that they hope will transform the largest
on-shore wind farm in the UK into a tourist destination. (New Energy Focus 13/08/08)

• PepsiCo UK & Ireland publishes Environmental Sustainability Report PepsiCo UK
& Ireland (PIUK), the company behind brands such as Tropicana, Walkers and Quaker,
has published its first ever Environmental Sustainability Report, including a series of
environmental pledges. (Report Alert 13/08/08)

• Proposed tax on recycled fuel ‘could kill oil recycling’ OSS Group - one of the
UK's largest oil recycling companies - has urged the Government to reconsider its plan to
introduce a new tax on fuel made from recycled oil this November.

• Carbon Challenge moves forward in Peterborough The development of an
innovative, zero carbon neighbourhood in the centre of Peterborough has moved a step
closer this week as pPod - a consortium consisting of Morris Homes, Gentoo Homes,
and Browne Smith Baker architects - was selected as the preferred developer for Phase 1
of the city’s South Bank. (Green Building News 13/08/08)

• Green Manufacturing Can Help 'Move Business Forward'
Manufacturers
increasingly see green initiatives as a way to move business forward through cost savings,

Aardvark has lined up two autumn seminar dates aimed at helping businesses in the development and construction industry through the environmental legislative and
regulatory processes. On the 16th October Aardvark are teaming up with Humberts
Chartered Surveyors and Albert Goodman Accountants for a breakfast seminar in Yeovil
and then on the 6th November, Aardvark will be joined by C2C Planning Consultants for a
morning seminar in Taunton. Both seminars are free of charge so please email the

• GreenBottle Milk Packaging Debuts in UK
The latest in the ongoing innovations for
eco-friendly milk packaging bring us to the UK and a product called GreenBottle.
GreenBottle is a new type of packaging designed for liquids and is made from 91%
recycled material, primarily from waste office paper and is 99% recyclable.
